Darbha is a sacred tropical grass mentioned in Vedic scriptures, known for its purifying properties during rituals. According to tradition, during eclipses, Darbha grass is placed in food items to prevent fermentation, and once the eclipse ends, the grass is removed.
Lord Krishna specifically recommends Darbha grass in the Bhagavad Gita as part of the ideal seat for meditation. It is believed to block the energy generated during meditation from being discharged through the body, especially through the legs and toes, into the ground.
